Latest Contract Award

Keller UK is pleased to announce that it has signed a £37M contract with Principal Contractor, VINCI BAM Nuttall for the grouting works that form part of the £700M Victoria Underground Station upgrade.

The works are technically demanding and comprise the installation of over 2400 jet grout columns that will allow approximately 400m of new tunnels to be excavated to connect the new (North) and existing (South) ticket halls.  The engineering challenges of building these shallow tunnels are considerable.  The invert is in London Clay, but the remainder of the structure sits within the water bearing superficial deposits.  The interlocking jet grout columns will be used to form a 2m annulus around the line of the tunnel excavation that will both stabilize the ground and also act as a barrier to water ingress.

Keller’s works will start in late 2011 and are scheduled for completion in early in 2014.  When complete, over 40,000 tonnes of cement will have been mixed with the ground and 90,000m3 of spoil will have been processed and removed from site.
